Department alumnus Matthew L. Downs is carrying on the University’s tradition of teaching excellence and leadership at the University of Mobile, where he is Assistant Professor of History and Chair of the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Downs graduated from the University with his Ph.D. in History in 2010, after completing his Masters in 2004. Doctoral Candidate Adam Petty Publishes Article in Alabama Review

Department of History Doctoral Candidate Adam H. Petty’s article, entitled “Latter-day Saint Beginnings in Alabama,” was published in the July 2016 edition of the Alabama Review. Petty’s article explores the beginnings of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Alabama during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
