List of Top 200 Civil War Books & Articles Includes Three Authors and Five Titles from Department

The Civil War Era Studies Program at Gettysburg College has updated their list of the Top Two Hundred Civil War Books and Articles in nine categories.  Five works from our department made the list.

180. Howard M. Jones, Abraham Lincoln and a New Birth of Freedom: The Union and Slavery in the Diplomacy of the Civil War (1999).

The list includes Grady McWhiney & Perry D. Jamieson, Attack and Die: Civil War Military Tactics and the Southern Heritage (1984).
McWhiney was a member of the department when that work was published originally.
